I woke up early this morning, excited for the Israel Mission to come. After rambling around my house and anxiously making sure I had everything in my bag, I hopped in the car with my sisters and parents and drove to the airport. The Delta gate was where we met Amnon and the rest of our group. I said goodbye to my family, and our group embarked on our treacherous journey. We successfully made it through security and took some time to get breakfast before our first flight. Dani and I went with the option of delicious, protein-packed, egg and bean burritos, while Ori made the outrageous decision of having a smoothie. We ate our food and boarded our first flight. To our surprise, our seats where not grouped together as expected, but instead spread through out the back of the plane. I nonetheless enjoyed a quiet and uneventful flight, next to a kind older women. As we exited our first flight, and prepared for our second, the one that would land us in Tel Aviv, I felt a twinge of excitement. The first leg of our journey was over and the second one was on its way. But first, we had to have lunch. For lunch, Ori and I chose a carnivorous meal, devouring roast beef sandwiches from Arbys (a choice that would come back to haunt us). Dani, not learning from Ori’s prior mistake, decided to have a smoothie. We ate our food, went to our gate and prepared to board our flight to Israel. Before boarding the plane, we got to play a fun game on the boarding agents iPad where we spun a wheel to determine if we would be selected for additional screening! After getting on the plane, and Shawna going through her additional screening, we all settled in for the ride. It was a long 10 hour and 59 minute flight. My seat mates where acceptably courteous on the flight and we played a multitude of the games on the planes on the in flight entertainment system, including “The Bird Game” and “Geotrivia”. Finally we landed in Israel, the holy land, and our trip truly began.
