Mount Hertzel was/is my favorite part of Jerusalem. The place felt so nice, so calm, it didn't feel like a graveyard. Placing stones on the graves is a unique way Jews choose to honor the dead, and I made sure to put a stone on all the graves we came across.
To me, being there stood out so much from anywhere we've gone so far. Even the Kotel wasn't the same kind of experience. If I were to ever come back to Israel, not only would I visit Mount Hertzel again, but I'd place a stone on every grave there.
