SCHOLARS IN RESIDENCE (SIR)
As part of the community’s effort to enrich the experiences of Cleveland’s teens (after Bar/Bat Mitzvah thru 12th Grade), @akiva developed a new initiative: the “Scholars In Residence” (SIR).
Each year, @akiva brings notable scholars or master teachers to the teen community for up to a week’s residency. During their visits, the scholars work with various teen groups in the community: youth groups, youth group leadership, synagogue Madrichim, supplementary schools, day schools, community programs, Cleveland Shin Shinim, and teen educators. Each of the scholars brings a specific portfolio of expertise, for example, Jewish or Israeli arts, Jewish or Israeli culture, history or Holocaust, music, or Israeli advocacy.
