Day 8 (6.19.2022): Life On The Kibbutz By Kylee Moss

Shani comes from a quaint kibbutz by the northern boarder of jordan. She explained to our group the wonders and struggles of life on the kibbutz. All of the members and residents of the kibbutz work collectively towards creating a thriving community through the sharing of work loads, commodities and and profits. Though the life on the kibbutz is fun and exciting, it also comes with responsibility; Shani described one job that was assigned to her on the kibbutz: picking tomatoes. She would spend her days in the blazing heat picking tomatoes, and to this day she can’t stand the poignant smell of cooked tomatoes— even the taste of pizza seems putrid! Kibbutzim are communities of practically one big family, and Shani’s appears to be the sweetest one yet.
