Day 5 (6.16.2022): What Benji Davis Taught Us About Leaders By Benny Sosin

Over the year in icnext, Benji Davis has walked us through the history of many leaders in Israel. Today we went to Mount Herzl and saw many of the graves and symbols that help represent and commemorate the people who had a big part in shaping today’s Israel. We walked through the cemetery and saw the graves of some of the big figures in the development of Israel: Theodore Herzl, the founder of Zionism who started the main movement to create a Jewish state; Ze’ev Jabotinsky who created a new formulation of the Zionism that has led the Israeli government on and off for the past 74 years. Other than these very important figures in the development of Israel we saw many other people that had sacrificed their lives for Israel. After going through the planned tour we made our way to the grave of one of the Shin Shin’s uncles. Shir told us his story and his sacrifice to Israel. Seeing this personal connection made the entire experience so much more meaningful. Overall today added so much more information and meaning to everything that we have been learning for the past year.
