Days 10 (6.25.2019): The Tel Aviv Shuk by Gabe Wolf

Today we went to the shuk, and it was really fun. Noam Paz got into a fight – a verbal one. The sunglass hut merchant thought he could be cruel to Americans but Noam Paz taught him a lesson with his Hebrew.

Also, we again had to interview random Israelis in groups with our friends while we were in the shuk. That was a whole lot of fun, because we didn’t know these people and we would never have been able to know them had we not done this. We asked them questions from our list and they opened up their stories to us. It was incredible. Then we took a picture of them doing what they love to do and as you know, a picture is like 1000 words.

While I was there, I bought gifts for some special people in my life. We got falafel, however some kids thought they had come to Israel for pasta and thus went to Pasta Basta.

When we returned to our hotel, I got to see my grandparents who now live in Raanana, Israel. That was really fun to get to see them. They brought brownies for me and the cohort which was really nice. I also got to have dinner at the hotel with them. It was nice to see them again and get to have a meal with them.

Lots of fun during this time. I think today was an important day not only because I got to see my grandparents but also because we got to see and hear the stories of different people we don’t know which connects us even more deeply to Israel and our homeland.
